The "lights out missionary" of food. Spotless kitchen, decent grub. Won't blow your mind, won't disappoint.
San Carlo Fumo is your average Italian joint that gives off decent vibes but lacks the pizzazz to make it memorable. Sure, the staff are friendly—Daniele deserves a shoutout for being particularly welcoming—but the food is a mixed bag. The lobster pasta is apparently shrinking faster than my will to go back, and while the ravioli is hailed as exceptional, it seems like you might leave feeling a bit cheated on portions.
The atmosphere is nice enough, and it's great for prams, but you'd expect more from a place that can fit in with the Selfridges crowd. Just don’t go expecting culinary fireworks; it’s all a bit vanilla. If you pop in, maybe stick to the beef cheek or scallops, but don’t be surprised if the lobster pasta leaves you wondering where your money went. 🍝
