Tier Achieved:
For the germaphobe whose motto is 'food is fuel'.
Spotless kitchen, rubbish food. Won't get sick. Might wish you had. Emergency calories only.
Cafe 89 is like that friend who keeps saying they're fine but clearly isn't. You walk in hoping for a decent meal, and what do you get? A full English that's decent and a jacket potato with tuna that seems to take forever. Matthew Dyche mentions the staff, especially the young lad who served him, were nice enough but, spoiler alert, it doesn't save the place from sinking like your hopes for a good meal. Meanwhile, Chris Frankland and others are throwing shade about food quality and cleanliness. Susan Gait's toastie looked more like a sad, soggy disaster than anything remotely appetizing, while Ben Smith's experience with the rude manager sounds like a scene from a bad sitcom.
In short, if you find yourself at Cafe 89, maybe just grab a coffee and hope for the best. With a hygiene rating of 5/5, it's clean but the food? Not so much. You might as well go to the McDonald's over the road, at least you know what you're getting.
"food took slightly longer than expected but... served it with a smile"
"Staff even though they were busy were pleasant"
"Very poor! Staff were pleasant but food and drink leave a lot to be desired."
