Tier Achieved:
Clean. Reliable. Does the job.
The "lights out missionary" of food. Spotless kitchen, decent grub. Won't blow your mind, won't disappoint.
The Black Penny is a cafe that’s like your average cup of tea—fine, but not exciting. You can expect a cozy atmosphere, but it falls a bit flat on the excitement scale. The reviews are just like the food—solid but nothing that’ll leave you buzzing. You might find the outdoor seating area pleasant, but you’ll have to fight off the boredom of a mid-tier menu.
It’s the kind of place where you can grab a bite without complaint, but don’t go expecting to leave with a ‘wow’ moment. The sweetcorn fritters seem to be the highlight, but even they can’t lift this place out of the vanilla-tier doldrums. It’s not a nightmare, just a middle-of-the-road experience that won’t offend, but also won’t inspire. 😐
