Tier Achieved:
Clean. Reliable. Does the job.
The "lights out missionary" of food. Spotless kitchen, decent grub. Won't blow your mind, won't disappoint.
Warrens Bakery seems to have the basics down—hygiene is on point, and their lattes are apparently the best thing since sliced bread, according to Tom. But if you’re expecting a full bakery experience, you might be disappointed. British Girl Explores has been coming back for years, but it’s more of a reliable pit stop than a destination. They’ve got cakes and pasties, but it looks like the quality has dipped over time.
You might find some good vibes while nibbling on a pasty, but don't be surprised if the entire cake selection looks like a photo album. Bonnita is not wrong when she says the pasties are getting smaller, and Kay Baker’s experience with the staff suggests they might be ready for a staff meeting on customer service. If you’re in Barnstaple and in need of a caffeine fix, Warrens will do the trick, but don’t expect too much excitement.
"The best lattes are the warrens one. It’s not too intense but its lovely."
"Always good food, decent staff and service."
"Lovely staff and the food was amazing."
