Clean. Reliable. Does the job.
The "lights out missionary" of food. Spotless kitchen, decent grub. Won't blow your mind, won't disappoint.
Paul Café Bankside is a decent pit stop on the South Bank. The pastries are fresh, but don’t expect a party atmosphere; it’s more of a sleepy Sunday vibe upstairs. Mary, the star of customer service, seems to keep things running smoothly, even when orders go awry. If you’re craving a cozy coffee break or a baguette, this place does the job without any drama.
But let’s not pretend it’s thrilling. The food is solid, the ambiance is calm, but it won't exactly light your taste buds on fire. Grab a pastry and chill, but don’t expect fireworks. This is a place to recharge, not to rave about. Oh, and don’t forget to pay that 30p to sit inside; the toilet is cleaner than your average pub, so at least there's that.
"lovely spot to take a break"
"the food was always very fresh and tasty"
"you can't beat Paul pastries"
