Istanbul Grill is the kind of local eatery that feels like it’s got potential but just can’t quite nail it. Stacey was greeted by ‘little miss happy’, which sounds like a solid start, and the food seems to have its highlights. Sophie raved about the halloumi and red pesto ciabatta, alongside a chicken and mushroom cream dish that didn’t disappoint. But then there’s Dan C, who gave a shoutout to Jo for her excellent service but was left feeling the value was off.

The sharing platter seems to be a safe bet, but not everyone is feeling the love here. There are murmurs about overpriced kids’ meals and dishes that come out lukewarm, which ring alarm bells. If you’re in Denton and looking for something chill, check it out, but maybe best to skip the kids' meals and order a couple of sharing platters instead.
