Poplar Canteen is the kind of place that feels cozy but also leaves you feeling like something’s missing. The burgers are decent, but don’t expect any Michelin stars here. The staff are friendly, as Lucy Whiley noted, and they even bring the order to your table if you’re struggling. But if you’re looking for flavor explosion, you might want to look elsewhere.

Harry Hunt thought their pie and mash was nice, but that’s about the best it gets. The atmosphere is just your typical cafe vibe—nothing special but nothing horrific either. If you’re around and need a bite, it’ll do, but don’t go out of your way for it.
