Clean. Reliable. Does the job.
The "lights out missionary" of food. Spotless kitchen, decent grub. Won't blow your mind, won't disappoint.
Kateh Restaurant is a cozy little Persian spot tucked away in Maida Vale, with a vibe that screams homey but serves food that occasionally misses the mark. The apricot chicken has been praised as incredible by some, while others wish it had a bit more oomph. Amir mentioned the lovely atmosphere and fresh-tasting food, while Thiers swooned over the fresh herbs and sophisticated Iranian dishes. However, some like Habib found the food uninspiring, which makes you wonder if they were just having an off day or if the kitchen was on break.
With prices that can stretch the wallet a bit, it's a solid choice for an intimate dinner, but don't expect fireworks on the plate every time. If you’re lucky, you’ll have a staff that’s friendly and accommodating, but if you land on a slow night, you might find yourself wishing the food packed a bit more punch. You might want to book ahead unless you fancy standing awkwardly by the door assessing the decor, which could use a splash of color.
"Delicious food with a lovely atmosphere."
"The fresh herbs are really fresh, and all the sophistication that Iranian food brings was spectacular."
"One of the best Persian restaurants in London in my opinion."
