Tier Achieved:
Clean. Reliable. Does the job.
The "lights out missionary" of food. Spotless kitchen, decent grub. Won't blow your mind, won't disappoint.
The Old Star Public House is your typical English pub experience, except it delivers on food. The small plates deal is a winner, especially if you’re a fan of squid and battered halloumi. Aldo, the Italian manager, clearly knows how to run a tight ship, offering meals that come with a side of charm. The atmosphere screams classic pub vibes, which is a solid backdrop for your fish and chips or a cheeky pint.
But it’s not all sunshine and rainbows. One poor soul had the worst steak of their life here, turning the experience into a classic 'never again' tale. If you’re going for the happy vibes and decent pub grub, you may just leave with a smile—just avoid the steak.
"Good choice of drinks at reasonable prices."
"Very friendly Italian manager who served our meals with a smile."
"The squid & battered halloumi...the fish & chips were great too!"
